There are also specific tests for individual needs/ages;
A. Career Counselling. Regarding the evaluation of grade 7-12 learners, the battery of tests consists more or less of the following:
* an ability test
* a personality questionnaire
* an interest questionnaire
* an emotional intelligence test
* a value scale

More on an Ability tests. I use the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT), which is a series of differential aptitude tests constructed to assess some facets of intellectual functioning. The kind of information obtained from the DAT can, along with information on interests and previous experience and achievements, facilitate judgments regarding potential success in a course or career. The particular contribution made by a differential aptitude test in vocational and educational counselling is unique and cannot effectively be replaced by measures of achievement, performance or interest.
The DAT Form K or Form L: Grades 10 to 12).

B. School readiness.
Regarding the evaluation of pre-school learners:

GENERAL

INTAKE interviews to establish requirements (30 – 60 minutes).

SSAIS-R IQ (4) evaluation: More or less 45 – 60 minutes. Feedback session (30 min – 60 min). Report compilation: free.

SUBJECT CHOICES: for grade 7’s: Battery of 4-5 tests; done after school hours (± 4-5 hours). Feedback session (30 min – 60 min). Report compilation: free.

SCHOOL READINESS: intake session plus evaluation (± 2-3 hours) plus feedback session. Report compilation: free.

TRAUMA counselling (play therapy; sand play; drawing, etc): usually a number of 30-minute sessions.

REPORTS: Compilation of reports: free. Please note that the report compilation process can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks from date of request.

CASH Practice: R950 per hour; R500 per 30-minute session. Payable in cash with first appointment, after which parents/guardians can claim from the client’s medical aid. For medical aid clients, please note that the medical aids do not necessarily cover all the client’s costs – payment depends on the client’s individual benefits. Therefore, bills will need to be settled privately by client/client’s parents or guardians.
