In a very interesting way, our life path ran from the north of South Africa, to here at the southern tip of the African continent. Born and raised in the then beautiful village of Brits, then famous for its farming and especially tobacco, we completed Matric at Brits High School, and afterwards went to the University of Pretoria where Charl qualified as a church minister, and I as a teacher. After Charl worked as a minister in three congregations, Brits, Rustenburg and Johannesburg, he made a career change in 1998. With our four children we moved to our tiny beach house in Kommetjie. Three of our four children were students at the University of Stellenbosch, while the youngest was completing his matric via distance learning. The beach house was too small for us, but we enlarged it over time so there was room for all of us.

We have lived in Kommetjie since March 1998, and for us it remains one of the most beautiful places on earth. Here there is silence and peace, the surroundings are exceptionally beautiful, and the vast beach with its pure white sand and view of Chapmans Peak, is down the street. Cape Town, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and Cape Town International Airport is within an hour's drive from us.

When our children start leaving the house, we decided to start a guest house. We like to share our Storyhouse with guests from all over the world. Charl is still working online at a solar energy data firm, and in the meantime I have qualified as a psychologist. In addition to sessions at home and online, we now also offer retreats on psychological wellbeing, including themes like relationships; creativity; giftedness; trauma as well as childhood trauma. Charl as a former church minister, and I as a teacher and psychologist, are combining our skills to assist people. You are welcome to chat with us about your needs, so that we can see how we can accommodate you.
